Belarus - Children's Books

Has anyone been to visit Santa Claus in the bison forest in Belarus? The Belarusian Father Frostʼs Residence is located in the heart of the Belovezhskaya Pushcha National Park, part of the forest that straddles the western border with Poland. The Belarusian Santa Claus lives in the middle of the reserve along with a European bison nursery where the European bison are native. The residence covers a total surface of about 15 hectares and was opened in 2003 as a new tradition for children and adults to celebrate the New Year. In addition to existing services, comfortable hotels and guest houses, Belarusian cuisine, ecological trails, and a wide range of entertainment facilities - visitors of the National Park can now enjoy the fairy-tale world of Father Frost in real life. Read more and check out photos here. Besides this bison forest, Belarus offers castles and more nature activities that are perfect for visiting with kids. Hope one day to visit!

Children's Books about Belarus

How Mama Brought the Spring: One wintry morning, Mama tells Rosy a wondrous story about her own mama, Grandma Beatrice, who could bring spring to cold, cold Minsk by making magic in the kitchen. Together, mother and daughter mix batter and sing a song. Then the batter goes into the pan: pour, swirl, swizzle, FLIP! Soon Papa comes in from the cold and the family shares a special treat. (Hint: A recipe for blintzes is included!) In this delightfully cozy tale, Holly Berry's stunning illustrations evoke charming folk traditions and the warm magic made in Mama's kitchen.
