Lithuania - Children's Books

Lithuania is a beautiful country filled with castles and a cozy medieval feeling old town in the capitol. A family trip in the Baltics (Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania) is highly recommended for those who like stories of knights, wizards, and dragons. It's one of those places that really feels like old Europe and isn't too crowded.

I didn't find too many kids books featuring Lithuania and I was hopeful to find a book of a Lithuanian folk tale. Do you know of such a book or any other children’s books featuring Lithuania? Please feel free to note it in a comment below!

Kids Books about Lithuania

Passage to Freedom: The Sugihara Story: Against the order of his government, a Japanese diplomat in Lithuania issued thousands of visas to Jewish refugees to help them flee the Nazis during World War II. The story is told from the perspective of the five-year-old son of how his father saved the lives of 10,000 Jews while he served as a Japanese diplomat in Lithuania.

Bonus! Souvenirs

I found Lithuania to be the best spot in the Baltics for purchasing Amber jewelry and highly recommend getting some, especially as a treat for mothers!

In addition, a really neat and practical souvenir from Lithuania are some "Made in Lithuania" bamboo towels by Inssert. The towels are so soft and so much better for our environment and earth than cotton towels. Bamboo is a rapidly renewable material (can grow up to 40 inches per day!), naturally anti-bacterial, and dries fast (no need to use the dryer for the towels as they can air dry!). Bamboo towels don't get the funky smell that cotton towels can get after being wet and not drying well and also remain so soft and fluffy after air drying. Highly recommend considering switching over to bamboo towels from cotton towels, and Inssert could be the place for you to get them and can remind you of your lovely time in the Baltics each time you use them. Mama Traveler Tip: The towels could be shipped to your home ahead of the trip or timed to arrive right after the trip so no need to try to fit them into any suitcases! Check it all out at https://inssert.lt/ or on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/inssert/.  Inssert has comfortable looking clothing for sale as well that you can also have a look at. (I don't get any commission or anything for this and just want to spread the information about this awesome company making our world a better place.)
